I heard if you shoot a squirrel before the first hard frost, the meat may be contaminated with Diseases. Warbles or something.Squirrel Diseases??????????
hmm never heard this i guess if this is the case i should have had warbles or something for about the last 30 years
e.s. yes we eat tree rats lol. they are very good and are quite a bit like rabbit in terms of taste.Squirrel Diseases??????????
I hope not I have eaten them for about 25 years. where i live they have a hunt in June.I don't know of any one getting sick yet from squirrel.Rabbits maybe ? but not tree rats.
I have not heard of that, cooking them should make it safe.
Here we call them ';limb dogs'; because we don't know how to spell ';scwerl';.
Strewth, you eat tree rats over there? what do they taste like?
Warbles, I had only ever heard of being associated with cattle, but looking at; http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153鈥?/a>
I see that they live on squirrels and just about anything else that moves.
Our squirrels usually expire from lead poisoning...
(high velocity lead poisoning)
