Does anyone know the title of an animated childrens film from the 90's about a little boy and his pet squirrel

what happens is his squirrel runs out into the crowd during a parade, and the little boy's bed flys and takes him to another land where he meets a guy who looks like santa claus, and he gives him a key. he tell the boy to never open the door that this key fits. he opens the door anyways, and this black goo comes out. does anyone remember this??Does anyone know the title of an animated childrens film from the 90's about a little boy and his pet squirrel
